This Advent is season of longing, expectation, wonder and hope. Just as the Israelites prepared for the coming of the Messiah (the word we use is "Christ") we remember their longing and expectation with in own for Jesus' return. Through this Advent season are going to be spending time in the prophesy of Christ's birth found in Isaiah 9:6-7. The names given to the Messiah there are Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. How does Jesus fulfill these titles? Do we rightly see him according to these names? Join us as we dive into the scriptures to see that Jesus fulfills the prophesies made about Him.

Judges tells the story of a people who continually remain faithless while God remains faithful to them. In Gods kindness he raised up Judges to draw the people back to himself during this lawless and brutal period in the history of Israel. The purpose of the book of Judges is not to point to good qualities of the "heroes" that God worked through and try to imitate them, but rather to recognize the peoples need for the true hero, Jesus. This remains true today, we are constantly realizing our need for a savior knowing the we cannot attain the perfection that the law of God demands but Jesus has lived the perfect life for us. Let us learn from the mistakes of the Israelites and rely wholly on the true hero King Jesus.

Prayer is incredibly important in the life of the believer but if we are honest we all have struggles when it comes to prayer. There are those of us that find it challenging to pray because of business, those that have vibrant prayer lives, and those of us that just simply struggle to know what to say. Jesus has kind words for us in Mathew Chapter 6:5-13 on what prayer is and what it should look like. Jesus kindly modeled our dependance on God through prayer and gave us examples in scripture. In this series we are going to walk through The Lord's Prayer in hopes that we would become a praying church.
