Stand Alone

Family Gathering 2019

It has become tradition to end the year as one big family. 2019 was no different. We came together, kids and adults, to be reminded of the fact that we’re called to serve others as followers of Jesus, but before we do, we remember all that Jesus has done for us. Out of that overflow of love, we love and serve others. Jesus gave us a reminder of that love when he instituted communion. Sometimes, we simply need to be reminded when we forget.

The Triumph of Christ

In the cross of Jesus Christ, God has paid the debt in full for our sins so that he could forgive us all of them. He has silenced the voice of the accuser so that guilt and shame would not rule over us any longer. The gospel sets us free.

Jesus - The Priest King

Guest speaker, Ed Davis from Imago Dei Church in Raleigh, took a break from our series in 1 Peter to preach from Psalm 110. Ed taught us from this messianic psalm that this passage prophesied that God would establish Jesus as King and High Priest.

You Must Be Born Again

During this gathering we had the honor and privilege to welcome Shane Shaddix, a pastor at one of our fellow Acts 29 Churches in Raleigh, to preach from John 3. Join us as we explore one of the most perplexing teachings of Jesus from the Gospel of John where Jesus says, “you must be born again.”

Communion - 1 Corinthians 11:17-26

As we enter the new year Pastor Stewart answers the basic questions surrounding communion: what is it? Who should take it? When should we take it? And what to do now in light of the truth that this ordinance is a well of rich comfort for us and sweet tangible reminder of the gospel as often as we take it.

Iraq Trip Update

God has been in pursuit of all peoples from the very beginning of creation and continues to pursue all peoples through the work of the Church on mission today. Returning from a trip from the Middle East, Pastor Stewart Scott, member Nate Schrader, and Pastor John Murphy update the church with things learned from seeing God at work in a place hostile to Christians.

Gathered Worship: Receiving and Responding to the Gospel

Why do we do what we do during our Sunday Gatherings? It is crucial that we answer this question and know why everything that we do together during worship matters. At Veritas, we define Gathered Worship as the gathering of followers of Jesus to receive and respond to their shared hope in the gospel. Everything that we do should point us to our shared hope in the gospel, helping us respond to God because of what he has done.

Vision 2017: #ReadTheBook

“It's true what people say, God doesn't love me more if I daily read the Bible. What's often not said is how much more I love God when I do.” - Donnie Griggs.

Simply put, those who read the Scripture grow as followers of Jesus. If we want to carry out our mission: to glorify God by making disciples who love God, love people, and advance the gospel, we’ve got to be people of the Book.
