At Veritas we are committed to preaching and teaching each week from the Bible about Jesus. Each week we post our sermons online for those of us who are unable to attend our weekly gatherings.
As we enter the new year Pastor Stewart answers the basic questions surrounding communion: what is it? Who should take it? When should we take it? And what to do now in light of the truth that this ordinance is a well of rich comfort for us and sweet tangible reminder of the gospel as often as we take it.

Ruth and Naomi are redeemed by Boaz, one of their kinsman redeemers, who points to the true and greater redeemer who was to come, Jesus. Jesus has done everything to redeem us and is coming again soon.

All of this will lead to us seeing how we are a part of what started in the book of Acts and will continue until Jesus comes back.

There is bad news and good news in 2 Corinthians 4:16 - 5:5. The bad news: if we put our hope in this life, we are going to be disappointed because we are not going to live forever and our hope dies with us. The good news: Jesus has purchased for us an eternal hope by what he accomplished on the cross. Jesus also provides us a down-payment for the assurance of eternal hope by sealing us with the Holy Spirit.

In the letter from Paul to the church at Philippi we are reminded that Jesus loves us. Because of this, we as a church family need to pursue love and encourage one another. Jesus humbled himself, so as a church family we need to pursue unity and humble ourselves. Jesus is worth everything, so as a church family we need to pursue him and turn from worldly desires. We will preach through the entire book Book of Philippians at a later time, but over the next few weeks we will take a quick look to be encouraged to pursue Jesus together.
